Road to Mastery in Facial Aesthetics

Overview

Our program design shares similarities with several emerging trends in education such as competency-based education, micro-credentials, stackable credentials, and modular learning. Here is a brief description of each:

  1. Competency-Based Education (CBE): In this model, progress is based on demonstrating mastery of specific skills or knowledge areas, called competencies, rather than time spent in class. It allows participants to progress at their own pace and accommodates various learning styles and backgrounds.
  2. Stackable Credentials: This concept enables students to earn credentials sequentially over time. Your learning nodes are designed as stackable credentials, with each one being a smaller unit that can contribute to the full Masters of Facial Aesthetics.
  3. Modular Learning: Modular learning refers to the system of organizing course content into smaller standalone units (or modules) that can be taught, assessed, and credited separately. Participants have flexibility in choosing the order of learning modules.

Learning Nodes

In terms of structure, the learning nodes are designed by the following:

Define Competencies: Identify the core skills or areas of knowledge that students must master to earn their Masters of Facial Aesthetics. These competencies become your nodes.

Design Coursework and Assessments: For each node, develop curriculum and assessments to ensure students can demonstrate mastery of the competency before moving on.

Micro-credentials: Design micro-credentials or certificates for each node to provide evidence of learning.

Flexible Learning Pathways: Allow students to choose their learning pathway, selecting the order in which they'll master competencies.

Stackable Credentials: Enable students to earn credit towards the overall degree as they complete each node.

Support and Resources: Ensure students have access to the necessary resources and support to succeed in this flexible environment.

AI/IA students

Phenoesthetics categorizes two primary states of engagement with clinical aesthetics: Interest in Aesthetics (IA) and Aesthetics of Interest (AI). While IA individuals are beginners captivated by the immediate sensory pleasures of aesthetics, their enthusiasm quickly wanes due to a lack of comprehensive understanding of the aesthetic phenomenon. In contrast, AI practitioners delve deeper, driven by curiosity to uncover profound meanings and personal interpretations within aesthetics. The key is an understanding and balance of the two states of interest by the aesthetic practitioner.

Differentiated Content: For IA learners, who are more interested in immediate sensory experiences, nodes designed with hands-on practical sessions, demonstrations, and simulations, focused on delivering immediate sensory experiences and outcomes. For AI learners, who seek a deeper understanding, the learning nodes present theoretical knowledge, research, case studies, and critical discussion on aesthetic principles, psychology, neuroaesthetics, and socio-cultural factors.

Flexible Progression: As IA learners may have a lower threshold for frustration and AI learners more persistent, Phenoesthetics allows practitioners to choose their own pace and the order of nodes could cater to these different levels of engagement.

Support and Guidance: Mentoring or coaching is at the core of mastery.  For IA learners to help them navigate the complexities of aesthetics, while AI learners could benefit from the opportunity for self-directed learning and exploration within the guidance framework.

Continuing Education: Both IA and AI learners to engage with aesthetics in a way that suits their interest. IA learners can take a few nodes for continuing education credits without committing to the whole program, while AI learners may be more inclined to complete the entire Masters program to explore the field in depth.

Cohort Building: Fostering a collaborative environment where IA and AI learners can learn from each other might also add value to their learning experience. This could take the form of discussion forums, collaborative projects, or peer-review processes.
